VMP Covergirl - Joy Klohonatz
This week’s VMP Covergirl is……Joy Klohonatz!🎉
Ever since I met Joy through WBN around 10 years ago, she has been a force of nature when it comes to spreading kindness and making people feel special. So when she decided to celebrate 70th birthday by turning some of that love and generosity toward herself—I was thrilled. She deserves it! 💖
Joy’s all about celebrating the little things that make life amazing. Her secret? Let go of perfection, embrace gratitude, and live with purpose. She’s proof that empowerment doesn’t have an expiration date and kindness is the best legacy you can leave. 🌟
Here’s what she had to say about this time in her life…
💎 Did you have any older female role models when you were younger?
I really didn't have a particular role model but my dad taught me to not quit and always strive for 110% of anything I did but my Mom showed me how. She was an entrepreneur at a time when moms stayed at home, took care of the house and raised the family. She, on the other hand, did do those things but was a fantastic seamstress for people and sometimes businesses. Our entire basement, no air conditioning in the day, was a place with two sewing machines, a serger and a cutting table which was a big sheet of plywood over top of a pool table.
💎 How did you mark turning 50? How did that feel to you?
lol.. I really wanted to forget it. After a business weekend away I came home to a surprise party arranged by my family. It actually was pretty special and did make me feel good. Now, as I've reached the next milestone 20 years later, I am proud of who I am and it really makes you smile when someone ventures to 'guess' my age and they say it's in the 50 range. :)
💎 What advice would you give your younger self?
To be yourself and not be so self conscious of what you look like. And also to stop comparing yourself to other people or trying to be someone you are not.
💎 Do you feel like you've changed since you've turned 50?
I’ve learned to accept my body for what it is. I've learned the value of taking care of my body inside and out. I don't get as stressed over things not getting done or done to perfection.. As I have learned it really will all work out no matter what.
💎 What positives have come from being over 50?
More wisdom.. more acceptance... values have changed to give me more inner peace.
💎 Do you have any goals or projects you're working on? What dreams do you have for the future?
I just want to make people happier. I want people to realize that it is the little things in life that make a difference. I love not only myself living in gratitude and appreciation every day but being able to help others do the same just elevates my level of happiness.
💎 What is your best advice for other women who are coming up on turning 50? What do you 'know' now?
Chill out.. it doesn't matter so much if something is not 'perfect'. When you have faith in God and yourself, everything will work out exactly as it was meant to be.
💎 What do you most want people to remember about you?
They would describe me as being kind and generous, always thinking about other people first..
I want to be remembered as one who made them feel important, special and even just remembered.
I want to leave a legacy of Kindness in the world.
💎 Why are beautiful photos important to you right now?
Why not? I deserve to feel special and am deserving of this opportunity for me.
Congratulations Joy! It’s an honor to help you celebrate this milestone 🎉
