VMP Covergirl - Diane Pearson

This week’s VMP Covergirl is………. Diane Pearson!!!!!

Diane is a Financial Planner at Pearson Financial Planning, focusing on women experiencing some sort of transition, such as divorce, retirement, new career, or a new family.

She booked her 50over50 experience wanting to get an updated headshot and photos that express her true self. We got to play around with a variety of looks and then add in a little something fun at the end!

Re: female role models:

"At a young age if you asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I said a mother. My mom was a stay-at-home mom. It was the same for all of my friends and relatives. I never believed as a female that there was anything that I could not do. At age 10, I tried out for the boy's baseball team even though there were no other girls trying out."

"The first woman I saw as a role model for something other than being a mom was a professor I had in college. She had a strong way of relating and connecting with her students. I did a self-study course with her one semester on Women in Human Resources. She helped to instill in me again that I could do anything. It wasn't just a piece of advice, but how she let me find myself."

On turning 50:

“I didn't look at 50 as being old, but a milestone. Now on to the next phase of my life. I found the strength to make a major change in my career. I sold my shares of a two well-established firms that I helped to start and I started my own company. It was scary and exciting at the same time. It is the best career decision I ever made.”

“My values have definitely changed. I am no longer trying to please everyone. I try to remain physically and mentally active. I am not happy with the wrinkles, but I am trying to accept that I have earned every one. My dream for the future is to continue to be happy and healthy as I age.”

Diane’s advice to other women turning 50:

1. Trust yourself.

2. Let it go.

3. Your thoughts are your own - no one else knows what is going on in your head

Excellent advice Diane!

Congratulations!
