VMP Covergirl - Tanya Bashor

Confident woman over 50 in red leather jacket - double exposure showing two emotions - anger and confidence

Woooot! This week’s VMP Covergirl is……. TANYA BASHOR

(In my head I’m saying like an announcer… Tanya Bashoooorrrrrrrrr!!!)

I first met Tanya through our first VMP Covergirl, Kim Adley. I loved her spunk and her story and her openness to trying anything in her 50over50 session.

The theme of reinvention and claiming power is a recurring theme in the project and Tanya is a perfect example. She was finishing up more certifications so she could become a Narcissism Informed Certified Coach to start her business called Impart Clarity LLC where she provides “a safe and transformative experience for women to heal from narcissistic abuse and rediscover who they are and find the joy in their lives again.” Powerful!

She fully “got” how a session like this wasn’t just about having fun or looking pretty, but it’s an affirmation of your best, highest, most powerful self that stands as a touchstone in your daily life that affects how you show up in the world.

She wanted to somehow capture the idea of going from “Chaos” to “Clarity” as the transformation she provides to her clients so we did this double capture. We both loved how it turned out!

Some advice she’d give to her younger self is to “learn to enjoy being alone and love yourself first. Once you truly know yourself, only then, you will know who and what will enrich your life even more. You are enough!” I love asking this question because it speaks so much to the stories of someone’s life.

On changes that come with turning 50: “I am now 55, and although my values have stayed the same, I would say I am less judgmental, more compassionate and much less hard on myself than I used to be. I stopped dying my hair at 52, it is now a beautiful white blonde and I embrace it's beauty! (Tracy’s note - isn’t it gorgeous?!) I am not overly hard on myself for carrying a few extra pounds and being attractive is more about my whole essence as a woman, not my figure or looks.”

“I compromise less. I care less about what people think of me. I embrace who I am, my story, my courage and tenacity. I have adult children and I love the new relationship I get to have with them now that they (and I) are older.”

Her husband will soon be retiring and her goal is to “live the laptop lifestyle traveling, coaching, and speaking from the road in the winter months (in warm climates,) and to spend time kayaking and mountain biking at our cabin in the summer warm weather here in PA.”

Advice for women turning 50: “50 truly is just a number. Embrace turning 50 as it is liberating because you will start to own who you are and what is important in life, and you likely wont care anymore about other peoples opinions of you.

She said that doing photos now was important to her because she wanted to be able to

“look at my photo and see the invisible scars, the journey, the beauty and the over-comer in myself, and also because I am launching a new business and I want to have a beautiful photo that embodies the essence of who I am.” I love it!

Over the last couple of years or so she’s been speaking about healing from narcissistic abuse and holding women’s retreats, so keep an eye out for her!

Congratulations Tanya!
