VMP Covergirl - SHERRI FRONTINO
This week’s VMP Covergirl is……Sherri Frontino!
Sherri was one of the earliest participants in this project. We talked about her career in accounting, the Pirates, and her daughter being a body double for one of the characters in A League of Their Own tv series. I remember having a lot of fun and getting several different looks with her, including this one, which just exudes strength and baddassery (is that a word? Yes, I declare that’s a word).
How did you mark turning 50? How did that feel to you?
I had a makeover that day and then had a nice dinner at home with my family. Didn't make too big a deal out of it. I decided that I wasn't going to let a number control my life and although all birthdays are important and should be celebrated, it was very low key and exactly what I wanted! Family time is irreplaceable.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Let them talk! And live your own life! Don't worry about what other people say or think about you. That's their problem. Not yours.
Do you feel like you've changed since you've turned 50?
I finally live a life free of the burden of other people's expectations of me. I've come to accept me for who I am and I am starting to like what I see! My perception of being attractive is for ME to like what I see when I look in the mirror.
What positives have come from being over 50?
Learning to take control of my own life and realizing my life is up to me. I can do with it what I want.
Do you have any goals or projects you're working on?
Since my kids are all almost grown I have been in love with the idea of "reinventing" myself. The only problem is that there are so many things I want to try and do and learn that there just aren't enough hours in the day sometimes. My dream is to leave no stone unturned. Go all out! Try something new! Live life like I've never lived it before!
What is your best advice for other women who are coming up on turning 50? What do you 'know' now.
Don't freak out. It's a number. Continue to allow yourself to grow and change and most importantly -- love yourself! You are beautiful just the way God made you!
How would you like people to describe you or see you? What do you most want people to remember about you?
I want to be known as a person who inspires and encourages others in all walks of life.
Why are beautiful photos important to you right now?
I want to capture this moment in time. A time where I have come so far, yet am still growing, evolving, changing. A time when I am comfortable with myself with who I am and who I am becoming.
